Sun-Beams: January 13, 2013

Sun-Beams is a collection of links to stories, articles, photos, or videos I have come across that I believe will inspire, inform, or encourage you, as well as my favorite photo posted on my other blog, Violet Film, from the past week.

Maine high school wrestler with cerebral palsy defies odds – I like this wrestling story much better than the one from a weeks back.

Man with cerebral palsy turns 80 – I have to admit, it never occurred to me before that Sarah Kate might not live as long as her peers because of the cerebral palsy.

Dance is freedom for 10-year-old girl with cerebral palsy – Some people were just born to boogie. I know a couple of kids like that. 😉

Dolls with Down syndrome characteristics spur questions – I’m not sure how I feel about this story. But I think I’m not a fan of the dolls. Let me know your thoughts.

I showed my 9 yr old daughter Emma about the Ds dolls whose first reaction was “Cool” but upon seeing them muttered,” Whoever made them needs to do better. They made Down Syndrome look scary. ” Any ideas about the manufactuar? She wants to write a letter with her 15 year old brother’s help(he volenttered to help write to a doll company!)

I like that wrestling story better too!! Not sure about the dolls. Theory is ok, execution… not so much.
